How to LinkedIn - a step-by-step guide

Recently, I had the honor of giving a lecture at DTU Library on one of my favorite topics: "How to LinkedIn." This session was all about empowering students and graduates to start building their personal brands early, giving them an edge in the competitive job market. It was an exciting experience, and I loved the engagement and energy from the participants.

After this talk, I was approached by Pejling, a company guidebook designed to help students and graduates navigate their career paths. They asked me to write an article summarizing my key points for their readers. Of course, I was thrilled to contribute!

For those of you who aren't familiar with Pejling, it's a fantastic resource. It includes everything from student jobs, internships, and full-time roles, to tips on writing job applications and CVs. Pejling provides invaluable insights for anyone looking to take their first—or next—career step.

So, what’s the article about?

In "How to LinkedIn: A Step-by-Step Guide," I focus on the importance of personal branding and how LinkedIn can be a powerful tool in establishing your professional identity. Here's a little sneak peek at the content:

  1. Start early, build your network: Connecting with classmates, professors, and professionals is key to gaining insights and potential opportunities.

  2. Craft a compelling LinkedIn profile: From your profile picture to your summary, each detail should reflect your skills and aspirations. Be authentic and strategic!

  3. Engage and share: LinkedIn isn't just a platform to showcase your resume—it's a place to engage with your network, share your work, and build your credibility.

  4. Consistency is key: Set aside time each week to update your profile, post content, and interact with your connections. Over time, you'll see the results.

Writing this article for Pejling felt like a natural extension of my work as a coach, speaker, and educator. I’m passionate about helping people present their best selves to the professional world, and LinkedIn is a fantastic platform to do just that.

If you're a student, recent graduate, or even a professional looking to build or enhance your personal brand, I encourage you to check out Pejling and the full article when it's published. It's packed with practical tips to help you take control of your career journey and stand out in the crowd.

Stay tuned for more updates, and in the meantime, feel free to reach out if you have any LinkedIn questions!
